Joint Résumé Café in Soon-to-Open Cougar Commons Draws Good Turnout Oct. 13

WSU Libraries and the WSU Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC) hosted an Oct. 13 Résumé Café in Terrell Library’s new academic support space to open in January, the Cougar Commons.

In total, 64 WSU students came to receive one-on-one networking and résumé support from 16 representatives of nine companies in attendance, including Boeing, Enterprise Mobility, Goodfellow Bros., Fast Enterprises, and Marathon Petroleum Co.

“We truly appreciated the opportunity to use the Cougar Commons space and look forward to future ways to connect with students,” said Hildegarde (Hilde) Velasco-Faga’autau, ASCC internship coordinator. “Thirty-seven percent of students were first-year or sophomores. It’s exciting to see their early participation and career development.”

The libraries and ASCC will organize another Résumé Café this spring.

Cougar Commons officially opens in the new year in the Terrell Library first floor overlooking the atrium, but the following services are already available:

“I am super excited about Cougar Commons—a dynamic, flexible space designed to foster meaningful partnerships, provide academic support, and deepen student engagement through shared learning experiences,” said Erica England, WSU Libraries’ first-year experience librarian and the Cougar Commons coordinator.
