The collapse of the PAC-12 has left Washington State University as one of two remaining teams. With this, traditions are coming to an end. The final WSU vs. University of Washington Apple Cup game took place on Nov. 25 in Seattle. UW took the final win, 24-21, over WSU in a well-fought game. However, this will only be the last game between the two teams within the PAC-12. Also on Nov. 25, it was announced the teams have agreed to a five-year contract to continue the Apple Cup tradition. Next year’s game will take place on Lumen Field in Seattle. The following four games will alternate between the Pullman and Seattle campuses. This infamous rivalry has taken place since 1900, and this year marked the 115th time the two teams faced each other on the field.

The WSU Libraries’ digital collections contain numerous articles, programs, photos, and films from the Apple Cups over the decades. To provide a visual journey of the games’ culmination, the following photograph series is curated directly from the WSU Libraries’ digital collections. If you find this intriguing and wish to explore football films and more, you can access the complete collection here.
