Scholarly Communication Librarian

Washington State University Libraries, Pullman

With the support and direction of colleagues reporting to Digital Scholarship and Curation and close collaboration with technical staff and colleagues in the Liaison Team, the successful candidate will engage with the WSU campus community on changes in scholarly communication and ways in which they can contribute to new and evolving methods for the distribution of research. This position will plan programming for scholarly communication topics and collaborate with colleagues in the Libraries’ Systems Office on technical issues related to the development of tools and services. The Scholarly Communication Librarian will also develop and implement policies, procedures, and technical solutions governing the deposit of digital content in the Libraries’ repository, the WSU Research Exchange and other platforms. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position.

Required qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-Accredited Library and Information Studies program at date of hire; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both as a team member and independently, and to promote teamwork among colleagues.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in an academic library setting; experience with current digitization standards and digital preservation; technical experience with Institutional Repositories, Content Management Systems, and electronic publishing tools; knowledge of scholarly communication issues; demonstrated capacity to engage in research and professional service.
