The displays inside are varied, including old machinery, many photographs, bits of the old school, and frank depictions of the expulsion of the island’s many Japanese farming families to relocation campus during World War II, as depicted in island author’s David Guterson’s best-selling novel, Snow Falling on Cedars. The island depicted in the novel combines features of Bainbridge and the nearby San Juans.
