But by far the biggest and most spectacular holiday event, attracting thousands of area spectators (though few Pullmanites seem to know about it), is the annual UI Jazz Choirs Christmas Concert in Kibbie Dome, where the University jazz singers are joined by hundreds of local kids from school choirs ranging from high school down to elementary school. This is a stunning show, always highlighted by an opening medley of musical tunes arranged by the university's brilliant jazz composer and arranger, Dan Bukvich. If you're not a jazz fan, try it anyway; the experience is more like a sophisticated Broadway production than a traditional jazz concert.
And it's free!
You can listen to samples of Bukvich's music as performed by the jazz choirs on his Web site.
