Consider visiting the Perkins House in Colfax on your way home. Near the north end of Colfax, take Last Street west (the only way you can go) and turn right on North Perkins Avenue, and look for the Perkins House on the right. Open Thursday and Sunday afternoons, 1:00 to 5:00, from May through September or by appointment (call the Colfax Chamber of Commerce at (509) 397-3712). On the last Sunday in June each year, an old-fashioned ice cream social is held on the lawn of the Perkins House.
