An abandoned railroad track bed has been transformed into the Chipman Trail which runs between Pullman and Moscow and is walked, skated, and bicycled by lots of people on nice days.

On the western end, the trail extends along the Palouse River and into town.

To the east it runs along Paradise Creek for eight miles, with occasional rest stops and toilet facilities. (Don't be fooled by this drinking fountain at the Pullman trailhead, though; you'll need to carry your own water.)

The creek has been intensively restored in recent years by hordes of WSU students dredging the junk out of it and planting its banks with native trees and shrubs. Much of the clean-up has been done under the guidance of the Groundworks Institute and the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute.

The fact that voters willingly financed this major project is a tribute to Pullman as well as a very pleasant way to go to Moscow.

Thanks for taking this tour of some of the attractions of Pullman. Return from time to time to catch up on new additions to the site.
