In 1967 the University Architect's Office of Washington State University, separately established in 1948, became the Facilities Planning Department. The department oversees the planning and construction or remodeling of all facilities connected with Washington State University.

Arrangement

The Office Files of the Facilities Planning Department are arranged alphabetically in a single subject series. The material contained within this series dates from 1946 through 1976 and bulks largest from l965 through 1973. The original file names and chronological order of the items within the folders have been retained. The General and Miscellaneous Files contain similar material but appear to be given alternate names in different years. The Office Files consist of correspondence (both in-coming and out-going), memoranda and reports, minutes of meetings, committee information and reports, and budget and financial material. The records are concerned with new construction and remodeling of existing buildings on the campus of Washington State University and the various off-campus sites owned and and controlled by the University.

Acquisition Information

The Facilities Planning Department Office Files were transferred to the University Archives, Washington State University Libraries in 1981 (UA 81-10) in accordance with the approved records schedule.
