Historical NoteReturn to Top

In 1954 the Washington State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association, established on July 14, 1946, changed its name to the Washington State Rabbit Breeders Association (W.S.R.B.A.). According to the organization's by laws the goal of the association is "to promote, encourage, and advance the raising of domestic rabbits for meat, fur wool, laboratory and show purposes; to provide opportunities to breeders to improve their knowledge and skills; and to take appropriate action to advance all phases of the rabbit industry in the State of Washington."

Arrangement

The records of the Washington State Rabbit Breeders Association are arranged in three series: first, a correspondence file; second, an administrative records file; third, a publications file. Each series is arranged alphabetically by topic. The first series contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other papers. In the second series are reports, bookkeeping records, election ballots and returns, plus other records. The third series contains publications by the organization. This last series also contains production materials related to the publication series, such as correspondence and rough drafts. Although the material dates from 1946 to 1979, the bulk of the records date from 1955 to 1970.

Acquisition Information

The records of the Washington State Rabbit Breeders Association were donated to the Washington State University Libraries by the association through Cindy Wickizer on April 24, 1978 (78-17).
