The E. A. Bryan was a Liberty class cargo ship used during WWII. The ship was destroyed in the Port Chicago disaster on 17 July 1944, a munitions explosion at the Port Chicago Naval Magazine that killed 320 and injured 390 sailors and civilians, approximately two-thirds of which were enlisted African American sailors.
