The WSU Libraries are offering a Graduate Student Assistantship (tuition and stipend) for the 2019-20 academic year. This opportunity is open to current graduate students in any degree or program on the WSU Pullman campus. If you are interested in digital media and production, 3D scanning/printing, virtual reality, audio recording, curation of digital objects, and accessible technology, consider applying for the assistantship in the Libraries’ Dimensions Lab and Studio.

Libraries’ Systems staff members are an active team engaging with students, faculty, and community members. The successful applicant need not possess specific technical skills, but a successful applicant should be familiar with digital media production and related technologies and be committed to acquiring a broad digital media skillset. Libraries’ Systems staff will provide training and resources for graduate assistants to learn necessary technologies.

This position offers opportunities in the following:

  • Gaining experience with software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Pro Tools, Reaper, Native Instruments, Ableton Live, Max, 3D animation/rendering - Autodesk Suite, and open-source software such as Audacity, Blender, GIMP, Atom, Pure Data, and Supercollider.
  • Operation of DSLR cameras (for use in photogrammetry) and audio field recorders.
  • Promotion/development of an academic media lab (Dimensions Lab and Studio).
  • Production of training materials, processes, and procedures.
  • Opportunities to lead small group workshops or training in the use and application of the services of the Libraries’ Dimensions Lab and Studio.
  • Website content editing (Drupal, WordPress).

Applicants will be expected to:

  • Work in the Libraries’ Dimensions Lab and Studio 20 hours a week mostly between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday (with the possibility of some occasional evenings/weekends).
  • Provide support and training to instructors, students, and visitors in the use of the Dimensions Lab and Studio.
  • Have some experience with digital media production and related technologies.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new software and digital tools through one-on-one and self-directed training.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Take on other duties as assigned to support the Libraries’ Dimensions Lab and Studio.
