Schedule Library Instruction For English Composition
In order to ensure the best library instruction session for your students, we require the following:
- Library instruction sessions must be requested at least 7 days in advance.
- Instructors must meet with librarians & send assignments to librarians before the instruction session.
- Instructors must attend instruction sessions with students.
We cannot provide general orientations; all instruction sessions must be linked to an assignment. If you are interested in a general orientation, please schedule a library tour. If you are scheduling for a class outside of English Composition, please directly contact your subject specialist librarian to help you with planning and scheduling your library instruction session.
All English 101 library instruction sessions will incorporate basic catalog, article, and database instruction. Below you will choose one of these options for each of your library instruction sessions.
Students will analyze topics in order to develop effective research questions and search strategies.
Students will assess source quality and relevance in order to ensure appropriate use of information.
Distinguishing among infotypes / Locating topic relevant materials
Students will be able to locate topic-relevant resources and distinguish among information resource types in order to select appropriate resources.
